Best Form of Charity: Providing Water

When asked about the best form of charity for the deceased, the Prophet ﷺ said it is water. Sa'd ibn Ubadah dug a well as sadaqah for his mother, Umm Sa'd.

Hadith

Narrated Sa'd ibn Ubadah:

Sa'd asked: Messenger of Allah, Umm Sa'd has died; what form of sadaqah is best? He replied: Water (is best). He dug a well and said: It is for Umm Sa'd.
